"Travel opens up the mind and enriches a person's existence"
Day 5 in Stockholm. What have I been up to? Not much. I have spent most of my time here resting, resting and resting after some very busy first 5 months of the year.
Sweden... it's good to be here
Well, it's Saturday already! This morning, was general cleaning day in my sister's neighborhood. Every 3 months, the residents here come out to clean and paint common areas. I met some of the neighbors and we shared pleasant greetings and smiles. Conversations were a bit difficult to engage in as I do not speak Swedish which is the language commonly spoken here.
Neighborhood dumpsters are stored in this room, and residents take turns cleaning it out weekly after the trash is picked up. The signing of their names on the rooster which you see on the wall (below) shows this duty has been performed.
Mailboxes
Beautiful flower shrubs. Not perfectly trimmed and manicured (as is common in U.S. neighborhoods), yet lovely in their natural state.
Clean up girl!!!
Surfboards and cars in the parking spaces.
Neighborhood bike rooms
Then it was lunch time
It was great meeting Lena. She has lived in California and we had a pleasant conversation (in English) about general topics that people talk about when they first meet... travel, family, works and differences between the USA and Sweden.
